NAM (known in some retail releases as Napalm) is a historical-military first person shooter developed and published by GT Interactive for the PC (Platform) (using MS-DOS) on July 31, 1998. Developed using the Build engine (and built directly on Duke Nukem 3D (Game)), NAM is set in the 1960's-1970's Vietnam War. Players control Alan 'The Bear' Westmoreland, a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps (Concept), as he takes on scenarios against the Viet Cong (Concept). It is also notable for its involvement with Dan Snyder, a former USMC sergeant who created the 1996 "Marine1" mod of Doom II: Hell on Earth as a potential training tool for the USMC. The game later received a World War II (Concept) sequel, titled WWII GI (Game). It also received a digital re-release (using DOSBOX) for the PC (Platform), Mac (Platform), and Linux (Platform) by Retroism (Company) and Nightdive on November 6, 2014.
